The fact that inflation in the USA reached its highest level in almost 40 years in December and has now increased to 7.0 percent was expected and has therefore already been factored into the exchange rates.

Among the individual values ​​in the Dax, the shares of RWE as the top favorite attracted interest with a plus of two percent. Börsenbrief author Hans Bernecker highlighted the wind power project in Spain announced the day before, including the high electricity prices as a support. Teamviewer caused a sensation with a price increase of 15 percent. The software company’s quarterly results exceeded expectations, wrote DZ Bank analyst Armin Kremser. “On the other hand, we do not see the positive development as a real surprise, since the management board had made the new outlook extremely conservative after the profit warning.”

In view of negative news from Dutch competitor Philips, the shares of Siemens Healthineers fell by 0.6 percent. Encouraging test results for the coronavirus vaccine gave the Ocugen titles a boost. The shares of the pharmaceutical company rose at times by 11.5 percent. According to development partner Bharat Biotech, a booster vaccination with the serum neutralizes both the Delta and the Omikron variants. The vaccine has emergency approval from the World Health Organization.
