Seymour Hersh, defunct ex-star of investigative journalism – Opinion

From

Stephen Cornelius

Seymour Myron Hersh, known to friends and colleagues as Sy, has seen great days in his profession. Few journalists manage to become a global brand, especially when they’re off screen. Hersh was never a screen guy, but rather the opposite: a man of archives and libraries, of confidential interviews, of covert investigation. This has earned him a tremendous reputation, many awards and a reputation as a ruthless investigator. But there is a downside to reporter Hersh, now 85, who appears willing to sacrifice his reputation for life in the conspiracy business.
