Is it actually not enough to sleep with your partner once a week? Of course, it cannot be said in general terms. After all, relationships are individual – and the libido is not equally pronounced in every person. So there is no rule of thumb as to how often and at what age you should have sex.

However, researchers at the Kinsey Institute for Sex, Reproduction and Gender have published a very interesting study. It shows the average sex frequency in different age groups.

Young = wild for sex?

Obviously yes – at least when it comes to this study goes. People between the ages of 18 and 29 have the most sex – an average of 112 times a year (roughly twice a week).

In second place: the 30 to 39 year olds, who have fun 86 times a year. This is followed by 40 to 49 year olds. You have sex 69 times a year.

Why does the sex frequency decrease with age?

Sure, the older we get, the more physical ailments we get. The back hurts, we have menopausal symptoms or chronic illnesses. It is not surprising that there is less desire for sex. Dr. Justin Lehmiller deals in one items for the Kinsey Institute in more detail with the subject.

In addition, it is completely normal that after 20 years of marriage you no longer want to go to bed with each other around the clock. Even when there are offspring, sex is no longer so in the foreground.

Are you already one of those women who regularly stand in front of the mirror and count their gray hair? Then you can breathe a sigh of relief – the news isn’t as bad as it sounds. Little sex doesn’t mean that we have bad sex too. After all, other studies show that women only reach their sex Olympus in their mid-30s – and that many only then experience real orgasms. Mmm … to be honest: who would still like to be 18?
