Severe thunderstorm alert: Gard and Hérault remain on orange vigilance until tonight

The latest Météo France bulletin, published this Wednesday, September 14 at 4 p.m., keeps Gard and Hérault – and four other departments – on orange alert until 10 p.m.

Météo France forecasters have decided to maintain six departments, including Gard and Hérault, on orange vigilance for thunderstorms. The alert has been active since Tuesday, September 13, and until Wednesday 10 p.m. It also concerns Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Drôme and Ardèche.

The Gard, the Hérault, but also the Aude, the Lozère, the Aveyron (a total of 85 departments) are also placed in yellow vigilance “rain flood” and “flood”. Météo France warns of a “stormy situation which requires particular vigilance insofar as there is a strong risk of violent phenomena, in particular a significant rainfall intensity”.

Return of thunderstorms and wind in the evening

Storms should form in the late afternoon and this evening, then strengthen over northern Languedoc and the Rhône valley. In places they will be able to give 80 to 100 mm of precipitation in a short time. Strong gusts of wind are also possible.
