The Hessian police continue to take action against child pornography: Almost 300 emergency services have searched the homes of 35 suspects across Hesse. The suspects are also believed to have owned pictures and videos of infant abuse.

This week there were searches throughout Hesse on suspicion of possession of child pornography. As the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Frankfurt and the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) announced on Thursday, 32 houses and apartments were searched. 289 investigators were on duty.

The accused are 35 men between the ages of 17 and 60 years. You are suspected of downloading child pornography via public links from a file hosting provider between October 2017 and September 2019.

The authorities said that “the most serious acts of sexual abuse of infants and young children” can be seen on it. The foreign file hosting provider where the files were uploaded gave the investigators a hint.

Rescue workers from all over Hesse were involved in the searches: in Frankfurt, Gießen, Groß-Gerau, Hanau, Marburg, Weilburg, and also in the districts of Bergstrasse, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Lahn-Dill and Waldeck-Frankenberg, among others. Above all, computers and data carriers were secured, which are now being forensically evaluated.

The special unit against child pornography and sexual abuse of children, newly established in 2020, was responsible for the searches. The special organizational structure (BAO) FOKUS is located in the Hessian State Criminal Police Office and is represented in all Hessian police headquarters. A total of 156 investigators work for them.

“Anyone who sexually abuses children or has such disgusting pictures and videos will be consistently prosecuted by the law enforcement authorities,” said Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU).
