Series like “Bridgerton”: Fans must have seen these streaming hits

The first two seasons of the Netflix hit “Bridgerton” are among the most popular series in the history of the streaming provider. In almost every country except Japan, the film adaptation of the novel secured a place in the top ten of the streaming charts, and it even reached number one in 83 countries. So it’s no wonder that Netflix extended the hit series by two more seasons in 2020. But until these come onto the streaming market, fans will have to be patient for a while.

Start of “Bridgerton” season three still unknown

Although the shooting for the third season is said to have already been completed, it is not expected to start until the end of 2023 at the earliest. The sequel was originally supposed to be released in May 2023, but has been delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic and subsequent changes in the plot. And when season four will follow is still in the stars.

The plot is different. It is now known that the third season will be about Penelope Featherington, who revealed herself as Lady Whistledown at the end of season one. Penelope has had a crush on Daphne Bridgerton’s brother Colin since the beginning of season one. And in the sequel, he should now also become aware of his feelings for Penelope. So after season two revolved around the love life of Daphne’s older brother Anthony, Colin now seems to seal his love as another Bridgerton. In addition, Anthony and Kate’s romance will continue to be part of the sequel.

“Queen Charlotte” builds on the success of the Netflix series

That’s a promising prospect for Bridgerton fans. And the fact that producer Shona Rhimes and her production company Shondaland have signed a contract with Netflix for eight series should also please lovers of the series.

Netflix only released a prequel to the series at the beginning of May, which followed the success of “Bridgerton”. In just the first four days after its release, the series already clocked up 148 million watched hours, making it the fourth-best opening week of any Netflix series this year.

In addition to “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”, there are other series that are reminiscent of the character of the Netflix hit and can serve as a bridge until the long-awaited release of season three.
