Serie A – Shevchenko trains Genoa FC – Sport

Andrei Shevchenko, 45, is to become the new coach at the Italian first division soccer club Genoa. The former world class striker receives information from Gazzetta dello Sport a two-year contract. Shevchenko, who let his contract as head of the Ukrainian national team expire in August, is set to succeed Davide Ballardini, who was sacked on Saturday. After twelve games, Genoa are in the bottom third of the table with just nine points. With Shevchenko, the club’s new owner, US company 777 Partners, wants to start a new era. The Americans took over the club in September from the Italian toy manufacturer Enrico Preziosi, who had owned the club for almost 20 years.
