Against the background of record values for the corona numbers, the Hamburg Senate decided on further restrictions on Tuesday. The 2G Plus model is being expanded significantly.

Anyone who has been vaccinated twice or has recovered will in future also have to submit a daily negative test in many areas. Accordingly, this applies to gastronomy – i.e. for bars and restaurants, for cultural events and for indoor sports. So if you want to meet up with friends in a restaurant for dinner, you not only have to show your vaccination or convalescence pass, but also to a test center beforehand. Even now, with the applicable 2G rule, unvaccinated people no longer have access to such activities.

The rule is initially valid for four weeks

The regulation should come into force on Monday and, according to Senate spokesman Marcel Schweitzer, initially apply for four weeks. Unless Schweitzer added again that stricter rules will be decided on at the federal-state switch that will take place on Friday. People who have already received their booster vaccinations will be exempted from the rule now decided by the Senate. The 2G rule should continue to apply in retail.

Ghost games for HSV and St. Pauli

Large events in professional sport must in future also be held as ghost games in Hamburg due to Corona. This means that HSV and FC St. Pauli will have to get along without spectators in the future. And the city derby between the two clubs, which is scheduled for January 21, will take place in front of empty stands. The basketball and handball first division clubs Towers Hamburg and HSV Hamburg are also affected.

Fewer spectators than before in amateur sport

In the amateur area, outdoor sports events may in future only take place in front of a maximum of 1,000 spectators. In sports halls, an upper limit of 200 spectators should apply, as Schweitzer said.

Up to now, a maximum of 5,000 spectators were allowed in Hamburg at events according to the 2G rule, and a maximum of 2,500 spectators in halls.
