Did you miss the news from the start of the morning? We have concocted a recap to help you see more clearly.

A new weapon in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. The Covid-19 self-tests will be available in 6,000 pharmacies as of Monday. Intended for asymptomatic people over 15 years of age, they will be gradually deployed in all pharmacies. Less invasive and unpleasant than deep nasopharyngeal tests, they consist of a nasal sample with a swab to be pushed 2 to 3 centimeters into the nostril which must then be dipped in a reagent. The result is delivered in fifteen to twenty minutes. Any positive self-test must then be confirmed by PCR test.

The self-tests will be delivered free of charge, upon proof, to home-based employees working with the elderly or disabled, as well as to family carers accompanying these people at the rate of two per week, indicates the Ministry of Health on its website. Individuals will also be able to purchase them at a price capped at 6 euros, then at 5.20 euros from May 15.

The month of Ramadan, which takes place once again in the particular context linked to the pandemic, will begin Tuesday in France, the Great Mosque of Paris said this Sunday. The rector of the mosque Chems-eddine Hafiz confirmed this date during a meeting Sunday evening with several federations of mosques intended to fix the date, even if the latter had been announced ten days ago by the French Council of Muslim worship (CFCM). Ramadan will end with Eid al-Fitr, the “fast breaking feast” which will take place on May 13th.

Seven Catholic religious, five Haitians and two French, were kidnapped this Sunday in Haiti, said the spokesperson for the Conference of Bishops of this poor Caribbean country in the grip of great insecurity. The group was kidnapped in the morning while “going to the installation of a new priest” at Croix-des-Bouquets, near the capital Port-au-Prince, explained Father Loudger Mazile. The kidnappers are demanding a million dollars in ransom, he said. The group includes a nun and four Haitian priests and two French, a nun and a priest.
