The material includes, for example, an operational order with detailed listings of police units and their digital radio channels as well as cell phone numbers of police officers. But documents on the procedure for arrests, on securing police vehicles and on the de-escalation concept have also appeared on the Internet.
Security circles confirmed the dpa that the documents are authentic. First, the Bayerischer Rundfunk reported on the leaked documents.
Bavaria’s Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann (CSU), said: “We are currently assuming that it is not critical for the mission that is now imminent.” Much of the police operation for the upcoming summit is similar to that of 2015, but the authorities have also changed some things. Therefore, no conclusions about the security concept could be drawn from the documents that have now been published.
It can be assumed that the whistleblower deliberately chose the date of his publication. Since 6 a.m. this morning, the area around Elmau Castle, where the heads of state and government will meet from June 26 to 28, has been cordoned off. It was initially unclear who put the data online. They were available on Sunday, among other things, on a portal classified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a left-wing extremist effort. According to Herrmann, the police are now investigating.
