SEC Charges Mango Markets Attackers with Stealing $116 Million in Crypto

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has followed the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and other entities in parallel filings against those behind the theft of millions of dollars from Mango Markets.

In a Jan. 20 announcement, the SEC accused Avraham Eisenberg of manipulating the price of Mango Markets’ MNGO token and allowing him to steal. About $116 million worth of cryptocurrency has left the platform.

“Eisenberg engaged in manipulative and deceptive schemes to inflate the price of MNGO tokens. by buying and selling security tokens to borrow and withdraw almost all existing Mango Markets assets from the platform,” said David Hirsch, head of the SEC’s Crypto Assets and Cyber ​​Unit.
