In the search for a 49-year-old woman from Middle Franconia who was allegedly killed, the police will take a closer look at the Happurg quarry pond following tips from police dogs. An operation with human search dogs and corpse detection dogs as well as a helicopter initially did not lead to the woman being found, as a police spokeswoman said. But: “The dogs all led their handlers to the same area of the bank.” Therefore, further measures are now being taken. “This could be a diving operation or boats equipped with sonar.”
“During the course of the investigation, there were indications that we could find her here,” said the police spokeswoman, describing the reason why the search for the missing person was carried out at the Happurg quarry pond. The four dogs reacted promptly. That’s why a helicopter was immediately called in, whose crew searched the surface of the water and tried to see something in the relatively shallow water. “But that was difficult because the water was cloudy and was stirred up by the helicopter, which was very low, so you couldn’t see much,” said the spokeswoman.
The 49-year-old from Pommelsbrunn near Happurg (Nürnberger Land district) was last seen alive on September 27th. Her adult children reported her missing to the police the next day. According to the Nuremberg-Fürth public prosecutor’s office, traces in the house indicate that the woman was killed. Suspicion is currently directed against the 51-year-old husband, who lives separately from the missing woman. After questioning, a judge issued an arrest warrant against him for manslaughter. According to the information, the man has remained silent so far.
