According to previous knowledge, the 13-year-old wanted to take photos with his sister on the site in Schwerte. Now the boy has died in the hospital.

A 13-year-old who was electrocuted while climbing onto a freight car in Schwerte, North Rhine-Westphalia, died as a result of his serious injuries. He died in the hospital on Tuesday evening, said a spokeswoman for the federal police when asked. Several media had previously reported.

According to the police’s previous findings, the 13-year-old wanted to take photos with his 15-year-old sister on the premises of the freight station on Monday evening. To do this, he climbed onto the parked freight car. An arc formed, police said.

Employees of a forwarding company called the emergency services, the boy was initially treated with life-threatening injuries in a special clinic in Bochum. The sister and mother were taken to the hospital in shock.

According to the federal police spokeswoman, the exact circumstances of the accident were still unclear on Wednesday.
