School floor threatens to collapse, children evacuated

Since this Thursday, in Aubais (Gard), CP and CE2 students no longer have lessons in their usual classroom. The floor of this room presenting “an imminent danger of collapse”, indicates the municipality. The children now have lessons in the multipurpose room and the former daycare center of this small town of 2,900 inhabitants.

It was during renovation work that the town hall noticed that “the vaulted floors were damaged, weak and dangerous”. An expertise, carried out by the municipal team, revealed that the floor of the class was “cracked”.

The elementary school of Aubais was built in 1886, under the Third Republic, relates Gard objective. A new school is in the works. It should open in 2024.
