With larger retention basins and new structures, the community of Schönau am Königssee and the Traunstein Water Management Office want to protect the two settlements that were particularly affected by mudslides after the heavy rain in July. The settlements are located below the green stone, which is furrowed there by some open gullies. The older transverse structures in it had been swept away by the masses of water and mud, now the municipality and the water management office want to provide new ones at short notice. Furthermore, there should be larger retention basins above the settlements and, in the longer term, a dam up to 400 meters long. Almost two kilometers south of the famous bobsleigh and toboggan run stretches from the slopes of the Grünstein down to the Königsee. Parts of it were torn away from the otherwise small Klingerbach, the reconstruction will take at least a year according to initial information. For the area above the railway, the official risk map shows the risk of large-scale landslides.
