It still smells very fresh in the large, modern building that SAP, Germany’s only world-class IT company, has built in the Garching research center together with the Technical University of Munich. But Christian Klein, CEO of SAP, is already thinking ahead at the opening ceremony. The new research center, called the Lab, here is “just the beginning.” A beginning that, says Klein, will have “only winners.” Artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the optimization of supply chains are the most important topics that will not just be researched here, just a few kilometers north of Munich. The proximity of SAP and the renowned Technical University of Munich, but also of other partners such as Siemens and BMW, will mean that implementation will not be neglected either.
