Siemens has stopped the delivery of ICE trains to Deutsche Bahn due to construction defects. There have been massive problems with the floor panels and side panels of the high-speed trains. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for Siemens Mobility. According to the report, there are quality problems with the welds of a subcontractor.
A Siemens spokesman confirmed the information in principle. “All trains that have already been delivered are not affected and can be used safely,” he said. In total, Deutsche Bahn has so far received 21 of 90 ICE trains.
According to the “Bild” newspaper, the Dax group’s further deliveries could now be delayed for months because some of the finished trains would have to be returned to the shell stage. The company spokesman said: “Siemens Mobility is in close contact with Deutsche Bahn and the subcontractor and is working hard to resolve the issue.”
