S-Bahn Munich: Why the crisis summit for the second main line burst – Munich

Two years ago, the railways, the federal government and Prime Minister Söder wanted to talk about delays and additional costs in the construction of the second S-Bahn trunk line. But then there was irritation because of Mayor Reiter’s participation, as internal files show – not the only inconsistency.

Since the disaster on the second main line of the S-Bahn in Munich can no longer be kept secret, Markus Söder has been in charge. Bavaria’s Prime Minister called for a first crisis summit in the summer and a second in the fall. He has promised improvement in the construction management for the bypass of the breakdown-prone S-Bahn. The Munich region still has to wait a decade and a half, at a cost of more than seven billion euros; around twice as high as last planned. Just a debacle.
