S-Bahn in Munich: trunk line closed for maintenance work – Munich

The Munich S-Bahn trunk line will be partially or even completely closed for maintenance work on the next two weekends from late Friday evening to early Monday morning. From this Friday until next Monday, there will be no trains between Isartor and Giesing or Leuchtenbergring, as announced by Deutsche Bahn. Because work is being done on the new electronic signal box here, the S-Bahn platforms 1 to 5 are closed at the Ostbahnhof. Fewer trains than usual run on the rest of the trunk route.

On the following weekend, the entire main route, including the Ostbahnhof, will be closed from Friday, October 21 to Monday, October 24. There are no S-Bahn trains between Pasing and Leuchtenbergring or Giesing. There is a rail replacement service with buses, and trams and subways are also available as alternatives with frequent intervals. All timetable changes are already taken into account in the electronic timetable information on the Internet and at the ticket machines, as the railway explained.

The company uses the weekends for extensive infrastructure expansion and maintenance work. “The Sendlinger Spange in the Laim area and the electronic signal box at the Ostbahnhof are being built,” it said. The second weekend is also the regular maintenance weekend, during which work on structures, tracks and stations along the entire main route is tackled in a bundled manner.
