Ryan Coogler considered ending his film career after Chadwick Boseman’s death. But he returned to “Black Panther”.

Ryan Coogler (36) wanted to end his directing career after the death of his “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020). “I was at a point where I was like, ‘I’m quitting this business,'” Coogler said now to Entertainment Weekly.

“I didn’t know how I would ever be able to make a movie again, especially a new ‘Black Panther,'” the filmmaker said in a conversation about ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ due out on November 9, 2022. Chadwick Boseman was died at the age of 43 as a result of colon cancer.

“I decided it made more sense to continue”

Ryan Coogler was only encouraged when he sorted through footage of the 2018 hit ‘Black Panther’ and read interviews with Boseman. “I went through a lot of the conversations we had towards the end of his life,” the director explained. “I decided it made more sense to continue.” He wants to honor the legacy of Boseman, who dreamed of another film from the fictional kingdom of Wakanda.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever focuses on Shuri (Letitia Wright, 28), the sister of Boseman’s T’Challa. She and the rest of Wakanda’s leadership must guard the secrets of their homeland after T’Challa’s death. The makers around Ryan Coogler ruled out a replacement for the lead role or a posthumous appearance by Boseman using computer technology.
