Russian player in custody amid investigation into suspicion of rigged bets

The Roland-Garros tournament tarnished by a case of rigged bets. Russian doubles player Yana Sizikova was arrested on Thursday after her defeat against the pair Ajla Tomljanovic and Storm Sanders, in an investigation into suspicions of rigged bets, we learned Friday from a police source and from the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Yana Sizikova, 26, the 101st player in the WTA doubles ranking in the world, was taken into custody on Thursday evening after a match in the 2020 Grand Slam tournament, as part of the investigation opened on October 1 for “sports corruption” and “organized gang fraud,” said the prosecution, confirming information from the Parisian.
