Russian space agency Roscosmos announced Thursday that it will send a film crew aboard the International Space Station (ISS) to make the first fictional film in space. The departure of the expedition is scheduled for October 5, 2021.
The team will consist of actress Yulia Peressild, 36, and director Klim Chipenko, 37. They will fly from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (Kazakhstan) aboard the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft, the Roscosmos agency said in a statement.
An unprecedented shoot
The film, whose working title is The challenge, is a “space drama”, indicates the Russian space agency. It will be directed by Klim Chipenko, already author of the Russian films “Kholop”, “Saliout-7” and “Text”.
The press release does not reveal the plot of the film or the role played by Youlia Peressild. The film is co-produced by Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian space agency, who has shown his ambition for Russia to be the first country to shoot a film in space.
