“All That Glitters” is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s work “Romeo and Juliet” for the modern world. Tim Downie will also star.

“All That Glitters” is intended to breathe new life into Romeo and Juliet. Pre-production of Peter Lavery’s feature film started last week. Now “Deadline” has confirmed another actor in the comedy drama. “Outlander” star Tim Downie (46) will take on the role of school principal Philipp.

“Shakespeare has always been a great passion of mine and with this film, Peter has written a wonderfully entertaining, uplifting love letter to him that I can’t wait to get started on,” the Brit enthused about the project. Alongside him, Paul Ready (47), Elliot Grihault (18) and Mark Lavery will be seen in the lead roles.

“Bringing Shakespeare back into fashion”

In “All That Glitters,” Shakespeare’s 1579 work is translated into modern times. The film is about Ryan (Grihault), who, as the son of the headmaster (Downie), works as a lighting technician for a performance of “Romeo and Juliet” at his school. He is madly in love with the actress who plays Juliet and longs to be close to her.

One day, the ghost of Shakespeare (Ready) appears to him and offers to help him get the role of Romeo. But Ryan has to overcome numerous hurdles on his way to happiness in love.

“I’ve always wanted to bring Shakespeare back into fashion and we’re incredibly proud to be working with an all-star cast that will do just that,” says director Lavery, explaining his mission. He too can hardly wait for filming to start. It is not yet known when the film will be released.
