Politicians had decided on a special pot worth 100 billion euros for the Bundeswehr. The support for companies should also be at least several billion.

A new aid program for companies because of the sharp rise in energy prices is said to be worth several billion euros. That said a spokesman for Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) on Friday in Berlin. He cannot yet provide any precise information, this is part of talks within the federal government.

Habeck had announced extended help for companies. He had brought a multi-billion dollar special fund into play. Politicians had decided on a special pot worth 100 billion euros for the Bundeswehr. This means new debt.

On the one hand, the Economics Ministry is planning to expand an existing programme. So far, industrial companies in particular have been able to receive a subsidy for increased natural gas and electricity costs. In addition, an aid program is to be created primarily for small and medium-sized businesses. The greater the impact of the energy costs, the higher the subsidy should be. Energy-intensive medium-sized companies should be able to receive grants as quickly as possible, if possible retrospectively from September.
