The next big release long awaited by fans will be Diablo 4 in the next few days. Today the preload of all pre-order editions has started. Those can then embark on an adventure on Friday. The final release is scheduled for June 6th. In advance, the trade press was allowed to deal with the title and made reviews of Diablo 4. A summary of these can be found at Metacritic.
Most of the test sequences have been completed on the PC, so far 44 in total. Of these, only three reviews are mixed, which means 70 points. All other reviews are considered positive, eight of them with full marks. Ultimately, this results in an average overall meta score of 88 points, which Diablo 4
makes it a thoroughly successful game in the eyes of the testers. What the critics say positively, but also negatively
Windows Central notes that Diablo 4 could become Blizzard’s most important and pivotal game since World of Warcraft. PCGamesN even goes so far as to call it the best Diablo game of all time. For Gamespot, Diablo 4 feels like the new benchmark for action RPGs, praising the characters, storyline, and world map. Again, there was criticism of standard dungeon boss fights and visual limitations. IGN, on the other hand, found the plot to be less successful, while the presentation, gameplay and loot were very successful.
However, one aspect of Diablo 4 also gave some critics a headache. Because the games-as-a-service model with real money microtransactions, which was presented in a video, is less popular. The shop with cosmetic content should be placed within an in-game menu, which Destructoid noted critically.
“If we treat the game like an MMORPG, I can allow some leeway for cosmetic microtransactions. But the ability to purchase them has no place in the core game loop of a $70-$100 game. It’s disruptive not only the gameplay, but also subtly exerts a psychological temptation that builds up over hours of gameplay with the ‘SHOP’ tab in front of you,” explains Destructoid, while still awarding 80 points for Diablo 4.

Ultimately, the reviews found the fourth part of Blizzard’s long-lived and popular infernal spectacle to be good, almost every game brings with it small ailments. Also our colleagues from PC games and Buffed have already viewed Diablo 4. The links take you to the respective tests and you can find out what the results were like there. It remains to be seen whether the views of Diablo 4 will also match those of the players. More on that from Friday, when pre-orderers can put their hands on the action RPG.
