Review: The ensemble “Goldmund” in the HP8 in Munich – Munich

With the Christmas album “More or Less Lametta” the second CD of the Munich formation will be released this week gold mouth. Nevertheless, the ensemble around the chansonette Anna Veit only presented his debut album “Fürs Erste”, also released by Solo Musica, in Hall X of the HP8 on Sunday due to corona-related postponements. Accompanied by six Munich Philharmonics made up of brass, accordion, drums and vibraphone, Veit then transforms the chanson into a chamber music synthesis of the arts.

How great the musicians enrich the often black humor of the lyrics became particularly clear in the live performance of a Cinderella story, with which the Essen music cabaret artist Christiane Weber was only able to shine accompanied by a pianist years ago. In addition, the six Philharmonic Orchestra now played the soundtrack to the Christmas film “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” and mixed it wittily with the film music for “Indiana Jones”, among other things. Meanwhile, the singer not only performed a fast-paced radio play with her vocal acrobatics, just like Christiane Weber, who died ten years ago, had shown her. Veit even took over Weber’s former stage performance down to the smallest gesture, which was literally revived in Veit’s movements and singing.

But Anna Veit and her Ensemble Goldmund were also able to breathe new life into the chansons of Georg Kreisler, Toon Hermans, Jacques Brel or Gisela from Schwabing. The actress and singer succeeded all the more impressively when she not only sang with her voice on stage, but with her whole body. With pointed facial expressions, and with gestures that sometimes outlined the big show like Liza Minnelli, and sometimes like Juliette Gréco, with small lyrical hand movements, that drew the attention back to the actual singing.
