The month-long descent at TSG Hoffenheim has officially cost coach André Breitenreiter his job at the Bundesliga club. On Monday, the club confirmed the separation, which several media had already reported on Sunday. Those responsible have not yet named a successor. The former Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo is under discussion.
The 49-year-old rider, who only came at the start of the season, had to leave as a result of his protégés’ disastrous performance on Saturday at VfL Bochum (2:5). Breitenreiter, who had taken up his post in the Kraichgau with the advance praise of the Swiss champion coach (FC Zurich), seemed increasingly helpless in the face of the ongoing crisis. TSG has not won any of their last ten competitive games.
