Republicans undermined by the great confusion reigning on the right

DECRYPTION – Two weeks before the first round of voting, the choice of an alliance with the RN defended by Éric Ciotti remains highly contested by the party’s leaders, when part of the activist base welcomes the choice of the president of the Republicans.

A thick fog envelops the right as the legislative elections approach. Caught in the implosion of their differences on the line to take, Republicans of all sides recognize the extent of the confusion. By choosing to build an alliance with the National Rally, Éric Ciotti caused a sudden and spectacular divide within his political family. On the one hand, the pro-Ciotti congratulate the leader of the LR for having dared to break a taboo by setting out the prospect of a united right-wing front against left-wing extremists. On the other, the party’s leaders accuse him of having dragged their movement into an adventure which will condemn the right to disappearance and undermine an independence strategy that they believe is essential to have a chance of existing in 2027.
