The purge continues. Republican House officials ousted Liz Cheney from her post as parliamentary group number 3 on Wednesday in response to her repeated criticism of Donald Trump. The former president immediately rejoiced, and Dick Cheney’s daughter, she vowed to “do everything to ensure that [Donald Trump] never come near the Oval Office again ”.

It was finally by an oral vote behind closed doors that Liz Cheney was dismissed from her role. “There were not many votes” to support a Florida elected official, Byron Donalds, in favor of her ousting. Ken Buck, of the Freedom caucus group, on the contrary defended Cheney, believing that she was a victim of the “cancel culture” that the Republicans denounce, however, for having “said what she thought” on the presidential election. Liz Cheney accuses Donald Trump of perpetuating “the big lie” and regularly repeats that the election was not stolen as the former president claims. Which is, according to her, “a danger” to the constitution.

“Liz Cheney is a horrible and bitter human being, she offers nothing good for the party and the country”, reacted Donald Trump. He put all his weight to get the head of Cheney and support the young elected New York Elise Stefanik, who should be elected president of the parliamentary group on Friday, without real opposition.
The youngest woman elected to the House in 2014, Stefanik, now 36, started off as a moderate elected, criticizing in particular Donald Trump on the environment and the wall with Mexico. But she quickly understood that her rise required unfailing support. During Donald Trump’s first impeachment, she defended him fiercely during hearings in Congress. After his acquittal, Donald Trump praised his temperament as a “fighter”. His bet seems about to pay off.
