Report: Newcastle approached PSG about Keylor Navas

At PSG, Keylor Navas takes turns with Gianluigi Donnarumma. A farewell to Newcastle is still not planned.

Premier League club Newcastle United have reportedly shown a concrete interest in Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas. As RMC Sports reported that the Magpies had been in contact last week. However, PSG rejected the request for the Costa Rican.

After an extension last April, Navas is still under contract with the Ligue 1 leaders until 2024. However, the 35-year-old since signing Gianluigi Donnarumma last summer no longer the undisputed number one. Navas and the Italian share this task.

The veteran is currently in 17 competitive appearances this season. The Paris club bosses don’t want to give up Navas to keep the competition alive for the goalkeeping position. The player himself is only focused on ending the season at PSG, so RMC Sports.

In 2019, after five successful years, Navas switched from Real Madrid to the Seine for 15 million euros. Since then, he has won a league title and twice the French Cup with PSG.

Course around Newcastle since it was taken over by a Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund last fall numerous transfer rumours. Currently, the German national player Robin Gosens (Atalanta Bergamo) is said to have come into the focus of the club bosses.

Last week the traditional club threatened with relegation already signed the English international Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid) and Striker Chris Wood, who came from Burnley FC. They cost a total of 45 million euros.
