A suspected Reich citizen is said to have hit a police officer in February. Because they suspect a political motive, the federal prosecutor’s office is charging them with attempted murder.















The federal prosecutor’s office has brought charges against a so-called Reich citizen who is said to have hit a police officer during a traffic stop. The man is accused of attempted murder, among other things, as the authorities announced on Monday in Karlsruhe.

Went head-on into a cop

The then 61-year-old is said to have hit a police officer head-on in the Baden-Württemberg district of Lörrach in February and accepted fatally injuring him. When the officer was lying on the hood, the man is said to have accelerated again. Even several shots from other police officers are said not to have stopped him at first.

Finally, he steered his car to the side in such a way that the policeman fell onto the street and seriously injured his head, the federal prosecutor said. The accused was drunk and unable to drive, he was arrested the same evening. Evidence of his membership in the Reichsbürger family was found in his house.

The accused is in custody

The federal prosecutor’s office accuses him of denying the existence of the Federal Republic and not recognizing the sovereign powers of its representatives – out of this attitude he wanted to evade traffic control. The now 62-year-old from the Lörrach district is in custody. The Stuttgart Higher Regional Court must now decide on the charges and the opening of the main proceedings.
