Reform proposals: The World Bank should become greener – politics

It is difficult for poorer countries in particular to get cheap money, even for measures to combat the climate crisis. A reform of the World Bank is now intended to make the international financial system more sustainable.

Jochen Flasbarth flew to the USA at the beginning of the week to turn the really big financial wheel. The State Secretary in the German Development Ministry is negotiating in New York and Washington about a far-reaching change in the World Bank. On the one hand, the goal is to enable poorer countries to get cheap money more easily. On the other hand, financial flows should be directed to where they are needed to combat the climate crisis.
