The police in Recklinghausen are investigating after finding the body of a 19-year-old in a schoolyard. Children had discovered the lifeless woman on Monday.
Several children made a horrific discovery in the yard of a primary school in Recklinghausen (North Rhine-Westphalia). According to the police and the prosecutor’s office, the students found a lifeless woman on the school grounds around 7 a.m. on Monday morning. At first it was assumed that the woman would be asleep, but the emergency doctor could only determine that the young woman was dead,” said a police spokeswoman for the “Recklinghäuser Zeitung”.
Cause of death unclear after body found in Recklinghausen
Investigators were initially unable to provide any information on the cause of death. The autopsy scheduled for the course of the day should bring clarity. A murder commission is investigating to clarify the background to the death of the 19-year-old from the city in the northern Ruhr area.

On site at the elementary school, officials secured tracks until noon, and the body location was cordoned off. Reporters described an “eerie silence” in the schoolyard.
According to the city administration, classes at the Marienschule were canceled on Monday. Emergency chaplains took care of the children. According to the authorities, the relatives of the deceased were also cared for.
