Real estate loan – no suspicion against Lindner – economy

The public prosecutor in Berlin sees “no initial suspicion of criminal behavior” Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) in connection with a real estate loan. Investigators said the anti-corruption department had closed a review process. The examination “neither revealed an initial suspicion of bribery of MPs (…) nor of accepting an advantage – which is in any case remote”. There were also no indications that expectations were attached to the loan, not even with a view to “creating general goodwill”. Several media, including the SZ, had reported, among other things, that Lindner had held a video greeting for a bank in Karlsruhe in May 2022 and then had another loan from the same bank. Lindner himself had rejected allegations. Words of greeting on anniversaries were part of a minister’s duties.
