RB Leipzig versus PSG – March angry about referee: “As if he wanted an autograph from Neymar”
In the home game against PSG, RB Leipzig managed to win a point. Coach Jesse Marsch was particularly dissatisfied with the referee’s performance.
After the dramatic 2: 2 (1: 2) in the Champions League against Paris St. Germain, RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch had to let off steam. The reason for the anger was referee Andreas Ekberg. “In many moments it was as if he wanted an autograph from Neymar,” said the pissed-off coach after the draw, which meant the premature end in the fight for the last sixteen of the Champions League.
The Swedish referee had given the American a yellow warning in the first half because he was terribly upset about some of the referee’s decisions. “Neymar, Di Maria and Mbappe are great players, but let’s have a really normal game where everyone can say: It was fair,” said Marsch.
The penalty kick in stoppage time, which Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai converted to equalize, was “very clear” from Marsch’s point of view: “And he needs the video referee because he doesn’t see it.” RB had already received a penalty from Ekberg in the first half, but Andre Silva failed because of his former Milan colleague Gianluigi Donnarumma.
