“Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart”: Playstation 5 game appears for the PC

Sony is also bringing its action platformer “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart” to the PC. The previous Playstation 5 exclusive game for the computer will be released on July 26th, Sony announced. The PC version is available on Steam and the Epic Games Store and costs 60 euros.

Compared to the PS5 version, the PC version of “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart” gets several upgrades. For the first time, developer Nixxes has installed ray-tracing shadows, which are intended to enhance shadows in outdoor areas with more natural, soft gradients. The previous ray tracing techniques of the PS5 edition are retained.

Sony subsidiary Nixxes has also built in support for ultrawide monitors. Gameplay and cutscenes display correctly in 21:9, 32:9 and even 48:9 aspect ratios. The graphics options are also promising: Sony promises support for DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2 and Intel’s XeSS for upscaling the render resolution.

On the PC, “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart” offers complete support for mouse and keyboard inputs, and the controls should be freely adjustable. The Dualsense controller and its features are also fully supported – so the PC version is not inferior to the PS5 version.

“Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart” was launched in June 2021 as one of the first true PS5 exclusive games – the Playstation 4 was not supported. So Sony gave it two years to port it to the PC, which has already been observed in other subsequent PC conversions from the Playstation manufacturer.

For a long time, Sony completely refrained from offering its own developments on the computer. But Sony has had success with isolated releases in recent years. The Japanese company is now bringing many of its titles to the PC: For the fiscal year 2023, Sony expects that 20 percent of all Sony studio sales will be made on the PC.

Specifically, Sony expects revenues of 450 million US dollars from the sale of PC games during this period. In the fiscal year 2020 it was just 35 million. The action game “Spider-Man Remastered” was particularly successful, selling 1.5 million copies on the computer and grossing 52 million US dollars. In view of these numbers, it is considered likely that more Sony games will be developed for the computer.
