The Briton is one of the greatest pop artists of our time. Its immense success over decades can also be seen in numbers.

British pop legend Elton John broke a British chart record. As the Official Charts Company announced on Wednesday, John was the first artist to make it into the top ten of the British charts at least once a decade over a period of six decades.

The latest contribution by the pop singer is the co-production “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” with the artist Dua Lipa, which is currently number two in the UK singles chart.

Elton John overtakes superstars like Cher, Cliff Richard, Michael Jackson and David Bowie, all of whom have each had at least one top ten hit in five decades. The most successful decade for Elton John was the 1970s, in which he was represented with ten songs in the British top ten, including “Rocket Man”, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and “Are You Ready for Love”.
