After the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the Federal Ministry of Transport announced several peronals. In the future there will be an officer for charging station infrastructure.

The FDP politician Michael Theurer is the new Federal Government Commissioner for Rail Transport. The Ministry of Transport announced on Wednesday after the cabinet meeting.

Theurer is Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport. Oliver Luksic (FDP), also parliamentary state secretary in the transport department, will be the new coordinator of the federal government for freight transport and logistics. For the first time, Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) appointed an officer for charging station infrastructure – this will be FDP politician Daniela Kluckert, who is also the parliamentary state secretary in the Ministry of Transport.

Implementation of the Germany clock

The rail commissioner was responsible for developing an overall strategic concept for the railways, it said. Theurer explained: “Capacity, quality and customer orientation are the key elements for more attractive rail transport.” The implementation of the Deutschlandtakt and a program based on it for rapid capacity expansion are the decisive instruments for this. With the Germany cycle, passengers should in future get to their destination faster, on the main traffic routes every half hour.

The railways play an important role in the plans of the traffic light government, especially against the background of efforts to achieve more climate protection. According to the coalition agreement, the SPD, Greens and FDP want to invest considerably more in rail than in road.

Luksic described high-performance logistics as the backbone of the economy and the basis of security of supply. “My goal is to advance the digitization and intermodality of logistics.” Kluckert explained that charging e-cars had to become easier and faster. “We must and want to make progress here.”
