Rachel McAdams turned down roles in the blockbusters ‘Iron Man’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, which is why she “felt guilty”.

Hollywood star Rachel McAdams (44) surprises with a new interview. The 44-year-old revealed to the US fashion magazine “Bustle”.that she turned down top-class roles in the hit films “Iron Man”, “James Bond 007: Casino Royale”, “Mission: Impossible III”, “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Get Smart” in the mid-2000s. During that period, the popular actress left Hollywood to spend two years away from fame in her native Canada.

Rachel McAdams: “I felt guilty”

All five blockbuster films mentioned were released in cinemas between 2006 and 2008 and became huge successes. “Casino Royale” established Daniel Craig (55) as the next James Bond and breathed new life into the long-lived agent film series. “Iron Man” with Robert Downey Jr. (58) heralded no less than the great Marvel Cinematic Universe on the big screen – and thus the most successful film series in cinema history in terms of net box office results.

Regarding her choice of role at the time, McAdams said: “I felt guilty not taking advantage of the opportunities that were given to me because I knew I was in such a fortunate position.” In retrospect, McAdams does not seem to regret her break from acting for several years and the roles she missed as a result. Because, as the actress and mother of two went on to say, she also knew “that it didn’t quite fit my personality and what I needed to stay healthy”.

At the beginning of the 2000s, McAdams was on the side of Ryan Gosling (42) in the romantic drama “The Notebook”, 2004) and with the teen classic “Girls Club – be careful!” (Original title: “Mean Girls”, 2004) has become world famous. In 2016, McAdams finally became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In “Doctor Strange” and the sequel “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022) she played the character Dr. Christine Palmer.
