A reckless speeder caused several accidents on the A8 motorway between Unterhaching and the end of the motorway near Ramersdorf late Friday evening, shortly before midnight, until a traffic light mast stopped him on the Mittlerer Ring. According to the fire department, the driver of a heavy SUV drove onto the Autobahn in Unterhaching and immediately switched to the left lane, although according to witnesses the right lane was free. This forced the driver of a minibus to slam on the brakes, but a collision still occurred. The damaged minibus remained unfit to drive while the person who caused the accident fled in the direction of Munich. According to the fire brigade, another, much more serious collision occurred a few minutes later at the end of the motorway in Ramersdorf. The SUV came off the road to the right, possibly due to an evasive manoeuvre, and rammed the guardrail. He then drove across the grass verge and head-on into a traffic light mast, which he carried away, before his vehicle collided with a small car in the area of the intersection and finally came to rest on the median of the Mittlerer Ring, completely demolished. Another car is said to have been damaged by debris, other crossing vehicles were apparently just able to brake.

As the fire brigade further reports, the injured SUV driver is said to have resisted at the scene of the accident. The Mittlerer Ring had to be closed in both directions for a long time due to the large amount of debris at the accident site. The A8 near Unterhaching was also temporarily closed in the direction of Munich.
