Since her daughter taught her to zoom, the Queen has been holding many video calls. In a new clip she shows herself approachable again.

Queen Elizabeth II (95) has discovered video calls for herself since the corona pandemic. Like millions of other people, the British Queen holds many meetings via Zoom and Co. Of the official Instagram account the Royal Family has now published a short excerpt from a video call with New Zealand’s new Governor General Cindy Kiro (63). The video snippet shows the Queen once again from her most human and sympathetic side.

“Ah, there you are,” says the Queen, surprised when she sees the governor on the screen. Then Queen Elizabeth wishes a “good evening”. When Kiro notes that it is early morning for her in New Zealand, she corrects herself sympathetically and indecently.

Cindy Kiro takes up her post as the Queen’s representative in New Zealand this week. Elizabeth II equips them with the traditional insignia.

Video training from daughter Anne

In the summer of 2020, the Queen made a zoom call for the first time. This moment is also recorded on video for posterity. In a documentary about her daughter Princess Anne (71) you can see how she explains the program to her mother at a meeting.

She congratulated her eldest great-grandson, Prince George (8), on his birthday on July 22, 2021, also via Zoom.
