Puzzles for sale to promote the works of local artists

Nablezon’s works have been put on puzzle – Nablezon

  • To publicize the work of local artists, an association has decided to sell puzzles representing their works of art.
  • In one week, 600 boxes were sold. A success that should appeal to others in the coming months

Like a lot of things lately, the idea came during lockdown. Forced to stay at home, a lot of people have gone back to doing puzzles with their families or alone just to pass the time. A flashback that did not escape Benjamin Clipet. This Lille resident, co-founder of the Lille artists platform which highlights regional artists, had the idea of developing puzzles based on the works of photographers or painters from Hauts-de-France.

“We thought it might be a good idea to turn artists’ creations into a puzzle. We started with two photos of Lille signed Nablezon. We ordered 600 puzzles of 1,000 pieces (48×68 cm format) last Sunday at a price of 30 euros. 50% of the stock was gone in less than 24 hours and the rest was gone in five days. It’s really not bad ”, rejoices Benjamin Clivet.

Don’t want to make it a large-scale business

By purchasing the puzzles, you also get a poster of the work and a presentation of the regional artist. Faced with the success, other puzzles will soon see the light of day with other photos. But no question of making it an industrial business. “We don’t want to make a money machine out of this. We really want to be sure of what we offer each time. It really has to be worth it. We will not come out with new puzzles every day, ”explains the co-founder of Lille to the artists.

In addition to this original spotlight, the artist will receive a percentage of sales of puzzles. And a new kind of notoriety among the general public. “The goal is really to introduce local artists,” confirms Benjamin Clipet. For the moment, seven artists collaborate with Lille to the artists. But the association, in full development, has more and more suitors to discover works of art in another form.
