Sergio Ramos arrived at PSG with high expectations. So far, however, the Spaniard has had little influence due to injury problems.

Sports director Leonardo from Paris Saint-Germain has drawn a sobering interim report on the signing of Sergio Ramos.

“We brought him in because he was in good physical condition. He played five games today,” Leonardo said in one L’Equipe-Interview: “Unfortunately, things didn’t go as we had imagined. It’s tough for him and for all of us.”

Ramos joined PSG from Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. Due to long-term calf problems, the 35-year-old only made his debut on November 28, 2021, and Ramos has been missing again since the end of January. So far, the Spaniard has only played four games in Ligue 1 and one in the cup.

PSG and Sergio Ramos: “We’ll wait and see”

Leonardo added: “The day we say that he can no longer play, there is clarity for all sides. That is not the case. If he cannot play, it will be difficult for him to be a leader.”

According to Leonardo, however, it is still too early for a final verdict. “We’ll wait and see before drawing any conclusions, the season isn’t over yet. But I’m not afraid to own up to my mistakes when I make them,” said the 52-year-old.

Ramos’ contract with the French series champion runs until 2023.
