They caused damage of around 20,000 euros to the building of the federal office of the Greens in Berlin. Now two climate activists have to answer in court.

Almost five months after a color attack on the federal office of the Greens in Berlin, the public prosecutor’s office has accused two climate activists.

A spokeswoman said the members of the Last Generation protest group were accused of damaging property and resisting law enforcement officials. A 27-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man are said to have sprayed paint from a fire extinguisher and buckets on the facade of the building in Berlin-Mitte on November 2, 2022. It was said that the damage was around 20,000 euros. In addition, the climate activists are said to have stuck to the building.

At about the same time as the action at the federal office of the Greens, there were other incidents at the other party headquarters of the traffic light government. According to the police at the time, two women emptied a fire extinguisher at the Willy-Brandt-Haus in Kreuzberg and smeared the outside facade. According to the police, two people stuck themselves to the entrance of the FDP. The last generation said at the time: “Orange color is associated with the last generation through safety vests and banners, but also with orange prison overalls.”

The spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office did not provide any information on the status of the investigations in the case of the actions at the party headquarters of the SPD and FDP. The accused climate activists are to be tried before the Tiergarten District Court. A date for this is not yet known.
