Progressive folk music festival Antistadl is 20 years old – Bavaria

Out of protest, the idea was born that two Bamberg ethnomusicology students did not want to leave their city to Karl Moik. He made guest appearances with his Musikantenstadl in Bamberg – and without further ado the “Antistadl” was founded. That was 20 years ago, but the progressive folk music festival still exists. This Friday the 20th anniversary will be celebrated at the E-Werk in Erlangen.

“Folk music is Rock’n Roll” is – still – the motto of the event, to which many well-known bands have gathered over the years, who interpret folk music in their own way. La Brass Banda was already there, the draw crook or the Chapel Josef Menzlwhich triggered a veritable shitstorm at the Oktoberfest last year.

The house bands of the Antistadl will play for the anniversary box gallop and the chapel pipe free. The travels from Krefeld Schäng Blasius Flönz rocket on and the Bamberger cellar command is also there. Anyone who appreciates their own interpretation of folk music, but can’t stand folksy music at all, has come to the right place at the Antistadl. On Friday in the Erlangen E-Werk, admission from 7.30 p.m., tickets are available at the box office.
