Process in Traunstein: Classmates raped several times – Bavaria

At the district court in Traunstein, a trial about alleged rapes in a school toilet began on Tuesday. A 14-year-old at the time of the crime is accused of repeatedly abusing and raping a then ten-year-old classmate in the toilet of a high school in Upper Bavaria. The procedure takes place in camera. The court did not say whether and to what extent the accused commented on the allegations at the start of the trial.

The main proceedings had already started last year, but were suspended in June 2021 immediately after the start. “There are still extensive follow-up investigations required, which will probably take some time,” said a spokeswoman for the court at the time. It was not known in which direction the follow-up investigations should go.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the older man repeatedly abused the younger man in the fall of 2017 and raped him three to four times during afternoon care at the high school. The child is said to have participated because it was afraid of being hit.

According to the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (LKA), the total number of crimes against sexual self-determination in schools has almost tripled in recent years – from 102 in 2016 to 295 in 2020. The number of suspects rose from 97 to 273 in the same period – It should be noted that since the sex criminal law was amended, the criminal offenses of sexual harassment and sexual assault have also been recorded. In addition, the criminal offense of distributing pornographic material accounts for the majority of these acts. In 2016 there were still 38 cases in Bavarian schools, in 2020 there were already 168.
