Problems with the energy transition: when the boom turns into a boomerang – Ebersberg

Herbert Frey from Baldham spent a lot of money to have a fuel cell heating system installed in his house. Actually, the family could live self-sufficiently, instead they have been waiting for the system to be connected for almost a year. Because of the many inquiries, the network operator can no longer keep up.

Herbert Frey owns something that many people will probably envy him for in the current situation: a brand new fuel cell heating system. With this system in the basement of his house, Baldhamer could be completely self-sufficient in terms of electricity, so he would be independent of the currently skyrocketing market prices. Now, however, the subjunctive and the energy transition don’t quite fit together, which Herbert Frey also had to realize in the past nine months: Although the plant has been operational since spring 2022, Baldhamer is still waiting for the Bayernwerk to actually connect it net takes. And so the Freys continue to pay electricity bill after electricity bill.
