Duchess Camilla was warmly welcomed by Prince William at her first public appearance after the future title announcement of the “Queen Consort”. The relationship between her and her stepson seems to have become very intimate over the years.

The British royals gathered at Westminster Abbey to celebrate Commonwealth Day, an annual holiday on the second Monday in March honoring the Commonwealth of Nations. They came to the service in festive attire. It was striking how warmly Prince William greeted his father’s second wife, Duchess Camilla.

Camilla Parker-Bowles was once Prince Charles’ long-term affair. Even during the marriage to Princess Diana, Prince William’s mother, the dalliance between the two is said to have continued. The late Princess Diana once said in an interview that she had always had a relationship with three people. Reason enough, then, that the relationship between Prince William and the future Queen Camilla was not always the best. However, this seems to have settled down over the last two decades after Diana’s death. They greeted each other warmly at the Commonwealth Day event.

Prince William bends down and kisses Duchess Camilla

Prince William beams when he sees Duchess Camilla, immediately bending down to hug her and kissing her left and right on the cheek. The situation looks very loving. A lip reader interpreted the situation to the British news magazine “Daily Mail” and says that the four royals who were standing together exchanged nice words. Duchess Camilla Prince William is said to have replied “Thank you, nice” and “Oh wow”. The lip-reading expert added that Prince Charles told Duchess Kate: “We could come to your place this Saturday, we are not there this evening.”

The Queen, who has recently recovered from coronavirus and is suffering from mobility issues, was hoping to attend the important event on the royal calendar alongside Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince William and Duchess Kate. Unfortunately, this was not possible for her health.

The event is Duchess Camilla’s first public appearance since Queen Elizabeth II granted her the future title of “Queen Consort” when her husband, Prince Charles, becomes king. “The Duke of Cambridge supports his grandmother’s title decision for Duchess Camilla,” a palace source confirmed to the Daily Mail last month.

The source also said of Prince William: “His relationship with the Prince of Wales is better than ever. He isn’t particularly close with his stepmother but they get along very well and are now a blended family. He also respects his grandmother and her judgement more than anything else in the world. If it’s right for her, then it will be right for him too.” Apparently, the relationship between Prince William and Duchess Camilla seems to have gotten better and better over the years, as the current pictures show.
