Prison closed for stealing 50 euros from a visually impaired octogenarian

An octogenarian sitting on a bench, visually impaired, near the Palais de la Musique in Strasbourg, was the victim of a theft last Thursday. Two men started a conversation, apparently with bad intentions, report the Latest News from Alsace. One of them indeed searched his pockets and seized a pocket containing documents, but also a 50 euro note.

Then they left before coming back and telling him that they had found his pouch on the floor. But the victim realized that his 50 euro note was missing. A witness at the scene alerted the police and allowed their arrest.

Judged Monday in immediate appearance, only one of them appeared in court. Already known to the courts for thefts, released from prison thirty days ago, he was finally sentenced to six months with continued detention and his sidekick of three months suspended.
