After the damaging fire in the pool area of the Prinzregentenstadion, the fire specialists from the police and the State Criminal Police Office assume a technical defect to be the cause. At the moment there is nothing to suggest that property may have been damaged or arson, a police spokesman said on Monday. However, the investigations were still ongoing. The fire broke out early on Saturday morning on the first floor of the main building in the area of the saunas, steam bath and changing rooms.
The sauna area has been closed since August 1st to save energy. The outdoor pool will also remain closed until further notice. First it had to be clarified to what extent the fire had also attacked the statics of the building, said a spokeswoman for Stadtwerke München. Because access to the checkout area, the changing rooms, sanitary rooms and the bathroom leads through the main building under the source of the fire. Experts also examined the building in the coming days. The damage is likely to be in the millions.
